Week 3

In the third week, we held a meeting about finalizing the needs, priorities and constraints of each stakeholder. Further more, we discussed possible solutions by considering the power of wind, the cost of the properties and the sustainability of the materials.

There are two solutions that we came up with:
1.  “A net house”
2. Wind break by planting Trees

In the net house solution, the basic idea is to prevent the rice grains from flying away and into other fields by capturing the rice and collecting it.
In the Wind break design, the basic idea is to decrease the strength of the wind/ reduce the speed of the wind will in turn will reduce the amount of rice being blown away.

We will decide which solution is the most suitable, realistic and feasible during next engineering lab.

Week 1

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to Drexel University's Section 024 Group 04's blog for our Freshman Design Project on Wind Storm Protection! The main aim of our project is to design a system which will help protect/save rice crops from damage during wind storms in Thailand's Bo Klua region.

In the first week, we have set up this blog and distributed project responsibilities amongst the group members. Since this is our very first 'client based' project we are very excited and we hope to keep you updated on every step through the means of this blog.

Feel free to ask us any questions and keep an eye out for our next post!
